Lower Mission
Vince Cunanan BSc.P.T., BSc.Anat., Dip. Manip. PT., FCAMPT, CGIMS
Vince is the Clinic Director of the Lower Mission office and the Clinical Education Coordinator for all of our clinics. “Vinny” has been with Sun City Physiotherapy since 2014, and has embraced the Okanagan lifestyle along with his wife and children. He’s an avid coffee drinker, a sometimes-golfer, and community-building advocate.
Vince is an advanced trained, manipulative Physical Therapist in the Lower Mission clinic. He is an established clinician with special interest in Temporomandibular Joint dysfunction, orofacial pain, neck disorders, and headache. He has expertise in Orthopaedic Manual Therapy, IMS, chronic pain, functional rehabilitation, and exercise management. He has served as Chair of the National Orthopaedic Division, Canadian Physiotherapy Association, and has over 20 years of Board level experience. He currently serves as the Vice President and Okanagan Director for the Physiotherapist Association of BC, Board of Directors.
Vince trained at the University of Saskatchewan, and completed degrees in 1999 (Bachelor of Science Anatomy) and 2001 (Bachelor of Science Physical Therapy, School of Physical Therapy, College of Medicine). Other formal education includes Advanced Diploma of Manual and Manipulative Physical Therapy, 2005, and Certificate in Gunn Intramuscular Stimulation (IMS), 2005. Vince is a Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Manipulative Physiotherapy (FCAMPT) and Instructor and Clinical Mentor with the National Orthopaedic Division of the Canadian Physiotherapy Association. He is the recipient of the Continuing Physical Therapy Education, Award of Merit in 2014 (Saskatoon, SK), awarded the Canadian Physiotherapy Association National Mentorship Award in 2020, and honoured by the Canadian Physiotherapy Association with a Medal of Distinction 2021. He is the recipient of the PABC Carol Kennedy Award, 2023 and the National Orthopaedic Division Lynn Chapman Clinical Mentorship Award, 2023.
Throughout his career, Vince’s caseload has consisted primarily of TMJ disorder, headache, neck and spinal dysfunction. His treatment style emphasizes manual therapy, exercise, and education, along with adjunctive techniques such as IMS. He has been fortunate to collaborate and mentor in an environment with multiple rehab specialists, chronic pain physicians, orthopaedic surgeons, dentists, orthodontists, and oral surgeons. His philosophy has been to ensure that optimal treatment management is achieved for all patients. He enjoys teaching in his field of practice and taking on a mentorship role for all levels of physiotherapist.
