Richard Funk, RMT
Richard is a Registered Massage Therapist and graduate of the Vancouver School of Massage Therapy. As an avid runner and cyclist, Richard recently moved from Vancouver to Kelowna to enjoy more of Kelowna’s drier, sunnier climate and great outdoor lifestyle.
Richard has always been amazed at the body’s ability to compensate, adapt, and heal in the face of dysfunction, illness, injury, and stress. He brings a level of understanding, compassion, and empathy to his practice that can only be attributed to his many personal experiences with acute and chronic injuries. His intuitive treatment style incorporates myofascial techniques, joint mobilizations, trigger point release, therapist-assisted stretching, and traditional Swedish massage; all in an effort to facilitate change in pain-affected patients. With years of involvement in recreational sports, fitness, and healthcare, Richard is experienced in treating a wide variety of conditions including muscular dysfunction, postural imbalances, neuralgias, and chronic pain syndromes. When answering patients’ questions, Richard’s love of anatomy and human sciences is undeniable. He believes that the more his patients understand their condition, the more hopeful and motivated they’ll be for their recovery.
When Richard is not at Sun City Physiotherapy, you may see him playing volleyball at the beach, running with his dog or checking out Kelowna’s many great restaurants.
